We are excited to bring The H.I.T. League to EVERYONE! All Olympic Sparring students will now have the ability to participate in an Amateur H.I.T. League Tournament near you in the future!

Our "Scoring System"

Based on keeping the judges accountable, each judge scores independently. Those scores are displayed on a visual bar graph live. Each player knows the score during the round, and the winner of each round.

General Rules

Basic, Olympic Taekwondo rules with the exception of allowing a double kick off the leg (front, or back side).

All valid techniques count for 1 point
BOTH feet out constitute 'out of bounds' and player will be penalized
An "attack clock" might be instituted (depending on the division)

The "Attack Clock"

To keep the judges accountable, we use the B.A.T.T. Judging System. To keep the fighters FIGHTING, we may use an "Attack Clock" for the division.

The Attack Clock can be set for any amount of time (typically 10 or 20 seconds)
A player MUST attack within the allotted time, or be penalized 10% of the round
Attack Clock Judges ONLY press their device when their player attacks with an intent to hit

"Trembling Shock" Defined

Trembling Shock is when one player strikes another player to displace their balance. In the Amateur side of The H.I.T. League, the Trembling Shock will be on a 'dial' based on the level of competitors.

The B.A.T.T. Judging System

The Broad Audience Tactile Technology (BATT) Judging system is unlike anything you have every seen/used before. It has taken nearly 20 months of research and development to get this system to do exactly what we want it to. The wait was worth it! Here is what you can look forward to...

FULL Accountablitily from judges (visually & statistically)
Players, Coaches and Spectators SEEING what the judges believe is scoring
The ability for the AUDIENCE to score along with the match!

Out of Bounds

For the Amateur H.I.T. Tournaments, there is NO elevated platform. When BOTH feet step out of bounds, the player is considered "out".

Both feet out of bounds
Center Ref makes the call
Players who are out of bounds, should NOT be able to score

Assigning Divisions

When running an Amateur H.I.T. Tournament, it is best to pre-assign divisions with the competitive spirit in mind for each division.

Larger divisions mean more for competition
Typically, 2 years is a good maximum age difference for children
Weight should play more of a role than age
Experience plays more of a role than the belt around a waist

"Avoiding The Fight"

The H.I.T. (High Intensity Taekwondo) League was created to make Taekwondo exciting! Therefore, no delay of game will be tolerated.

Falling, Running, Clinching, etc.
Center Ref will give one warning, then 10% penalty for the round is assessed
After 2 warnings, the Center may DQ the fighter

Coaching

With the B.A.T.T. Judging system being used, the players, coaches and spectators will ALL see what the judges believe is scoring. Coaches, you are there for your students. Show them the proper way to conduct themselves as well.

Coaches must stay seated during the fight
Fighters may fight without a coach
Coaches conduct can make a fighter lose

Required Gear

Amateur HIT fighters will wear all Olympic Sparring Gear. Hand protection is optional

Head gear, Forearm Guards, Mouthpiece
Chest Protector
Shin Gaurds, Instep Protectors
Male competitors are required to wear a groin protector

Rounds and Breaks

For The Amateur HIT Tournaments the rounds and divisions will change based upon rank, experience and age.

Elite Group - 4-90 second rounds w/60 sec breaks
Most fights - 4 90 second rounds w/30 sec breaks
Beginner divisons - 4 60 second rounds w/30 sec breaks

After the introduction of The H.I.T. League in 2017, many students, parents and instructors inquired if there would be a 'different' level of competition for those not quite ready for the Professional H.I.T. League. We have created an Amateur H.I.T. League for this reason. With all the excitement of The H.I.T. League, but the gear for an amateur, we are proud to bring The Amateur H.I.T. League to a school near you!

We are making this available for all ages, ranks and experience levels. If YOU are interested in this style of tournament, LET YOUR INSTRUCTORS KNOW! They need to realize their students will compete in a mini-school environment to help get the word out about The H.I.T League! We have an entire "How to run an Amateur HIT Tournament packet" to make it easy for them!

"How to run a Successful Amateur H.I.T. Tournament"

We have created a FREE SYSTEMS MANUAL for ANY school owner who would like to host their own Amateur H.I.T. Tournament (either a mini-school, inter-school, or district wide competition). The school owner just needs to get in touch with Jeff Battenberg to get all the info (mrb@hitleague.com) The B.A.T.T. Judging System is available for rent, and the tournament systems manual comes as a gift until further notice.

The H.I.T. League mission...

We are trying to give an avenue of competition that will bring a fighter to a higher level of competition. We know that current Taekwondo players can score (i.e. touch the sensors correctly). What The H.I.T. League promotes is the ability to strike with power upon demand. This is a skill that, once honed, is devestating in competition! We want to help create the strongest Taekwondo fighters in the world!
